Welcome to our website about the exciting research taking place in Nunavut. We are involved in several research projects that consider issues in Inuit educational leadership, education at the high school level and access to university for Inuit learners. The site also includes two recent documentary videos produced by Gemini Award winning producer, Mark Sandiford. We believe that our personal stories and life experiences, including our own schooling, shape our beliefs, values, and teaching philosophies.
Fiona Walton leads the programs and the research initiatives in Nunavut for UPEI. Her philosophy was significantly shaped by 17 years of experience living and working in the North where she worked as a consultant, administrator, teacher educator and researcher. While a CV provides a more formal perspective on any career, it is only by teaching, researching and working together collaboratively with many people in Nunavut that it is possible to make a difference for Inuit education. We want to thank everyone who supports this work.
